DETROIT --
The schedule for the Wayne State University volleyball team (2-4, 0-2 GLIAC) did not let up after hosting #18 Grand Valley State on Friday night. The Warriors met #15 Ferris State (4-2, 2-0 GLIAC) on Saturday afternoon and the Bulldogs won in straight sets (25-14, 33-31, 25-14).

Grace Frazee (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) gave the Warriors an 8-7 lead with a kill early in the first set. However, the Bulldogs found their stride and pulled out to a 14-9 lead forcing WSU to take a timeout. The momentum stayed with the visitors as FSU led 22-11 and would eventually take the opening set 25-14.

Similar to Friday night, a marathon second set did not go the Warriors way as the Bulldogs took the thriller. The set featured 12 lead changes and 17 ties. WSU led for the majority of the set including a 22-18 advantage late in the game. Ferris State would not go away and would come back to the tie game at 23-23 and take the set 33-31.

Following a kill from Emily Norscia (Livonia, Mich. / Livonia Churchill), WSU trailed by a point, 9-8. That would be as close as the Warriors would come as FSU cruised to another 25-14 set victory and a 3-0 match sweep.

Freshman Michelle Asiedu (Holland, Ohio / Springfield) led the offense with 10 kills and hit .450 for the match. Madison Kielty (Plymouth, Mich. / Canton) tallied 12 digs while Madison Reeves (Indianapolis, Ind. / Avon) handed out 37 assists to go with her 10 digs.

FSU hit .364 compared to WSU's .158.

The Green & Gold will host Ohio Dominican on Friday at 7 PM inside the Matthaei.
