Volleyball Sweeps Northwood for GLIAC Road Win

Hannah Moore posted 15 kills for her 17th double-digit kill performance of the season.

MIDLAND, Mich. -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (10-14, 5-7 GLIAC) swept Northwood (10-13, 6-6 GLIAC) on Friday night powered by 15 kills from Hannah Moore (Louisville, Ky. / Assumption) and Emily Norscia (Livonia, Mich. / Livonia Churchill). The Warriors have won three of their last four matches. WSU won by set scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 27-25.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Timberwolves jumped out to a 6-2 lead to begin the first set. A kill from Moore tied the set at 9-9 before Brittany Guldan (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Walled Lake Central) gave WSU a one-point advantage with a kill on the ensuing play. An ace from Hailey Richardson (New Boston, Mich. / Huron) staked WSU to a 15-12 lead and a Grace Frazee (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) kill extended the lead to 21-16. Emily Norscia sealed the win with a kill to end the set.

- Following an NU attack error, WSU led the second set 7-4. Kelsey Bonewits (Griffith, Ind.) cut the deficit to two points at 13-11 with a kill. A poor set by Northwood gave the Green & Gold a 16-15 lead. The set was tied at 20-20, 21-21, 22-22 before the Warriors won the final three points to win the set 25-22.

- Looking to complete the sweep, Wayne State led the third set 9-5. Back-to-back kills from Norscia and a combo block from Bonewits and Mikayla Shell (Croswell, Mich. / Croswell-Lexington), gave WSU a 12-7 lead. Another kill from Norscia put the Warriors on top 21-20 but Northwood would comeback to tie the set at 25-25. An NU attack error and a block from Guldan and Frazee gave WSU the 27-25 win and a 3-0 sweep.
