YPSILANTI, Mich. -- The Wayne State University baseball team (7-10) traveled to Eastern Michigan (8-14) on Wednesday night for a non-conference contest at Oestrike Stadium. Wayne State's comeback attempt ran out of time and WSU would drop the nine-inning game, 10-6.

Â
The Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning off of starter
Jake Davis (Rochester, Mich. / Stoney Creek) (1-1). Five more EMU runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning made it 7-0 in favor of the home squad.
Â
WSU got on the board with three runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Jared Tobey (St. Clair, Mich.),
Dennis Olszewski (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Gabriel Richard) and
Daniel Peake (Mississauga, Ont. / Lorne Park) all collected RBIs in the frame.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, a two-run single extended the Eagles' lead to 9-3.
Â
Chris Horvath (Lakeshore, Ont. / St. Anne Catholic) replaced
Tyler Tompson (Farmington, Mich.) to begin the fifth inning.
Â
An Eastern Michigan error on a dropped pop fly in the top of the sixth inning allowed WSU to trim the deficit to 9-4 as Tobey scored from second base.
Â
Ryan Mergener (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Portage Central) hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to bring the Warriors within three runs, 9-6.
Â
A suicide squeeze RBI gave the Eagles a 10-6 advantage in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Â
WSU used five pitchers on the night. Tompson threw three innings and struck out three.
Christian Bilkovic (West Bloomfield, Mich.) and
Jeff Sorenson (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson) tossed the final two innings. Sorenson struck out the side in his inning of work.
