ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Wayne State University men's basketball team (1-3 overall) played its first road game of the regular season on Saturday at Lewis (2-4 overall) and the Warriors were unable to hold onto a five-point second half lead and fell on the road, 69-57.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams started slow and the game was tied at 2-2 upon the arrival of game's first media timeout at the 15:57 mark. The Flyers knocked down a pair of triples to take a 15-7 lead with 11:36 left to play in the first half. A 13-0 Lewis run was snapped by a Darian Owens-White (Ypsilanti, Mich. / River Rouge) three-pointer at the 10:20 mark. However, the Warriors were unable to take advantage of two Lewis turnovers as the home team led 21-14 with 7:24 left to play before halftime. Wayne State connected for its first field goal since the 10:20 mark as
Ronald Booth (Detroit, Mich. / Consortium) hit from deep with five minutes to play in the half to pull WSU within five, 26-21. A Booth runner at the 2:39 mark capped a 7-0 run by the Green & Gold to trim the deficit to 26-23. The Flyers scored the next eight points to lead 34-23 at halftime.

Latin Davis, Jr. (Ypsilanti, Mich. / Milan) knocked down a corner trey to bring WSU within six at 34-28 and four more points from the Youngstown State transfer forced Lewis to call a timeout as the Warriors pulled within two, 34-32, at the 16:59 mark.
Marcus Moore (Lansing, Mich. / Waverly) gave the visitors a lead, 35-34, with 15:40 left to play as WSU started the half on a 12-0 run. The rally continued with two more layups to push the rally to 16-0. The Wayne State defense held the home team scoreless for the first six and a half minutes of the second half. Wayne State held onto a 41-40 lead at the 11:42 mark but the Flyers regained control and led 45-41 after a Jake Reinhart triple with 9:30 remaining. A three-point play from Donovan Oliver pushed the Lewis lead to 50-44 with just under eight minutes left to play.
Nick Mutebi (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Univ. of Detroit Jesuit) grabbed an offensive rebound and layed it in to bring WSU within seven at 59-52 at the four-minute mark. The Flyers controlled the final minutes and would go on to win 69-57.
LEADING THE WARRIORS
- Booth tallied a game-high 18 points, while Davis posted 13 points and Moore contributed 11. Moore also dished out five assists and led the team with six rebounds.

- Delaney Blaylock was the lone Flyer in double-digits with 14 points.
