GAME ONE RECAP
After the Huskies failed to score with a one-out double in the top of the first, Wayne State used four hits (three extra-base) and two Bloomsburg miscues to score five times.
Lyndsay Butler (Cambridge, Ont.) led off with a triple to right center and scored on a double by
Allie Buchanan (Cambridge, Ont.) to left field on an 0-2 offering.
Kristen Lucas (Newmarket, Ont.) reached on an error, and the Warriors used a double steal to put two runners in scoring position.
Brooke Turkalj (St. Jacobs, Ont.) had a sacrifice fly with both Buchanan and Lucas scoring as the ball was dropped. Following a sacrifice bunt by
Kylee Barrett (Croswell, Mich. / Croswell-Lexington),
Emma Adams (Rockwood, Ont.) doubled in Turkalj. After a ground out, Adams scored on a single by
Ashley Messina (Troy, Mich.).
The Huskies had a one-out single in the second and back-to-back two-out singles in the third but could not get a key hit off Butler. The Warrior hurler retired 11 in a row until a one-out single in the seventh, but back-to-back ground outs ended the contest.

The next three innings were scoreless despite the Warriors having two runners on in the fifth and another base runner in the sixth.
Pitcher
Megan Guitar (Croswell, Mich. / Croswell-Lexington) kept WSU in the game by retiring nine straight after the Warriors had cut their deficit in half. Nova Southeastern threatened in the bottom of the sixth as the first two batters reached on a single and a Wayne State miscue. After a fly out and a walk to load the bases, WSU escaped with a 3-2-3 double play.
In the top of the seventh, the Warriors strung together six consecutive singles after the first hitter was retired. Guitar, Butler and Buchanan all had singles to load the bases. A single to right by Lucas tied the game at 2-2, while Turkalj followed with a go-ahead infield base hit. Barrett contributed another RBI base hit.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Sharks made it interesting. After the first two batters were retired, Dakota Villella worked a walk prompting a pitching change with Butler entering the circle. An infield "hit" put runners on the corners, before a strikeout with a bad throw leading to a 2-9-3 out at first to end the game.

Guitar improved to 7-0 by limiting the Sharks to two runs (one earned) on four hits in 6.2 innings. She struck out five and walked three. Butler notched her third save of the year by retiring one of the two batters she faced.
