Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The 28th-ranked Wayne State University softball team (32-10 overall, 11-5 GLIAC) won two conference contests at Lake Erie College (11-18 overall, 5-10 GLIAC) on Saturday afternoon.  The Warriors won the opener, 3-0, at the Kiwanis Recreation Park Complex before completing the sweep with a 4-2 triumph in the nightcap.  WSU is tied-for-first with both Saginaw Valley (10-4 GLIAC) and Hillsdale (11-5 GLIAC) with both the Warriors and Chargers just percentage points behind the Cardinals.

GAME ONE RECAP

WSU wasted little time scoring a run in the top of the first.  Lyndsay Butler (Cambridge, Ont.) had an infield single and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Hannah McClounie (Essex, Ont.).  Brooke Turkalj (St. Jacobs, Ont.) walked but was erased on a fielder's choice.  Butler and Kristen Lucas (Newmarket, Ont.) then pulled off a double steal with Butler safe at home.

Butler retired the first nine Storm batters before a leadoff single in the bottom of the fourth by Kristin Peacock.  Savannah Karako had a one-out single advancing Marissa Rizzo into scoring position, but a fielder's choice and a ground out ended the frame.

The Warriors added to their lead in the top of the sixth as Turkalj had a leadoff single to center.  She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Lucas, and scored on a two-out, two-run home run to left center by Kylee Barrett (Croswell, Mich. / Croswell-Lexington).

Meanwhile, Butler set down 10 of 11 Lake Erie batters following Savannah Karako's single until Darrian Yanek singled with two outs in the seventh.  A comebacker ended the game.

GAME TWO RECAP

Lake Erie pulled within 3-2 in the top of the third as Peacock had a one-out single, went to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a single by Savannah Karako.
