CLINTON TWP., Mich. – The Wayne State University men's tennis team (11-10 overall, 4-2 GLIAC) swept guest Michigan Tech (0-12 overall, 0-8 GLIAC) Saturday, winning 9-0 at the Peachtree Tennis Club.

The Warriors had matching 8-2 results at the first and second flights. Sophomore
Mats Westkamp (Bonn, Germany) and freshman
Niklas Karcz (Bottrop, Germany) defeated Mario Neto and Ignacio Carbajosa at No. 1, with juniors
Taylor Vane (Southampton, England) and
Griffin Mertz (Farmington Hills, Mich. / North Farmington) defeating Juan Felipe Chia and Nico Caviglia in the second flight.
At No. 3, senior
Harvey Reed (Winchester, England) and sophomore
Derek Sammons (Coldwater, Mich.) won 8-1 over Simon Xiong and Illiya Chibirev.
SINGLES RESULTS
Westkamp won 6-0, 6-0 over Caviglia in the first flight.
Karcz was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Carbajosa at No. 2.
Vane defeated Xiong, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3.
Mertz played the fourth flight, winning 6-0, 6-1 over Juan Felipe Chica.
In the fifth flight, Reed was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Chibirev.
Sammons won by default at No. 6.
