The Warriors will host their final home game on Saturday vs. Purdue Northwest.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's basketball squad (12-12 overall, 7-9 GLIAC) fell 68-62 to Parkside (10-12 overall, 8-8 GLIAC) at the Matthaei on Thursday night.

The first quarter began with three lead changes in the first 3:30, the last coming on a layup by junior guard Nastassja Chambers (Ypsilanti, Mich. / Arbor Prep) which ignited a 10-4 WSU run.  A triple by junior Alex Matus (Millbury, Ohio / Toledo Central Catholic) concluded the spurt giving the Warriors a 14-9 lead with 1:57 left in the opening stanza.  The teams split the final eight points with Wayne State holding an 18-13 edge after 10 minutes.

WSU tallied the first seven points of the second quarter, including five points by Chambers, to lead 25-13 at the 8:05 mark.  Over the last eight minutes of the half, UWP outscored the Warriors by 17 points (23-6), including five three-point baskets.  The Green and Gold trailed 36-31 at intermission.

The Rangers tallied the first four points of the second half, before Wayne State answered with four straight points.  Over the next 4:01, WSU was outscored 11-4 as Parkside built its largest lead of the game (51-39).  The Warriors recorded the final five points of the period to pull within seven at 51-44, including a long-distance bank shot from senior forward Paige Villemure (Flat Rock, Mich.) in the waning seconds of the quarter.

Chambers alone outscored UWP 10-2 in the initial 2:40 of the final stanza to give the hosts a 54-53 lead.  She made all five of her field goal attempts.  Parkside would go on an 11-0 run in a span of 4:14 to lead 64-54 with just under three minutes remaining.   In the final 2:34 of the contest, Wayne State tallied 11 points while allowing only four.  The Warriors didn't gain enough momentum, however, falling 68-62 to the Rangers.
