The Warriors won the opener 3-1 over 12th-ranked Illinois-Springfield (6-5 overall) and then blanked tournament host Lewis University (1-3 overall) 8-0 in five innings in the nightcap.

GAME ONE RECAP

After stranding two runners in the top of the first, WSU grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second.  Redshirt freshman Emily Dodge (Burlington, Ont.) laced a 2-0 pitch into left center for a leadoff double.  She advanced to third on a ground out and scored on an infield single by freshman outfielder Monica Daly (Ancaster, Ont.).

The Prairie Stars left two runners on base in the bottom of the second, but the Warriors were able to extend their lead in the third in two more runs.

Senior third baseman Hannah McClounie (Essex, Ont.) had a leadoff single, then sophomore center fielder Bryanna Kressler (Kitchener, Ont.) followed with an infield single after fouling off four two-strike pitches.  Junior Brooke Turkalj (St. Jacobs, Ont.) walked to load the bases, but the next two WSU hitters were retired.  Junior right fielder Rachelle Clayton (Guelph, Ont.) hit a smash to shortstop which was misplayed allowing two runs to score.
