Women's Tennis Sweeps Indiana (PA), 7-0

The 20th-ranked Warriors have two matches left before traveling to the NCAAs.

STOW, Ohio -- The 20th-ranked Wayne State University women's tennis squad (19-5 overall) blanked Indiana (PA) (6-7 overall), 7-0, on Sunday afternoon.

DOUBLES RESULTS
Sophomore Linda Liong (Tanjung Kidurong, Malaysia) and freshman Laura Cazacu (London, England) were first to finish, notching a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles vs. Julia Newman and Mariana Valenzuela.

Senior Dasha Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia) and sophomore Khadija Da-Silva (Burlington, Ont.) were next off the courts, tallying a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles against Katya Minchenkova and Thais Andreotti.

At the third flight, senior Astrid Ciellza (Tecumseh, Ont.) and sophomore Stephanie Stamate (Windsor, Ont.) won 6-3 versus Laura Dunarova and Maria Magraner.

SINGLES RESULTS
Da-Silva was first to finish after nearly blanking Valenzuela at No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-1).

At No. 1 singles, Kuznetsova was next off the courts after almost sweeping Minchenkova (6-1, 6-1).

Cazacu notched a victory over Newman at No. 2 singles (6-4, 6-2).

Sophomore Brianna Douglas (Dayton, Ohio / Chaminade Julienne) tallied a win at No. 5 singles vs. Magraner (6-3, 6-3).

At No. 3 singles, Liong won her match versus Andreotti in a super tiebreaker (4-6, 7-5, 10-5).


Freshman Carla Jewell (Hobart, Ind.) won her No. 6 singles match by default.

UP NEXT
The Green and Gold will travel to Walsh on April 13 for a 4:00 p.m. match.
