Women's Tennis Blanks Davenport, 7-0

WSU wins all six singles flights and the doubles point.

CALEDONIA, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis squad (2-0 overall, 2-0 GLIAC) recorded a 7-0 triumph at Davenport University (0-2 overall, 0-2 GLIAC) on Sunday afternoon.

DOUBLES RESULTS

Sophomore Laura Cazacu (London, England) and junior Linda Liong (Tanjung Kidurong, Malaysia) were first off the courts after winning their No. 1 doubles match 6-0 against Danica Malan and Vladislava Shumilova.

Freshman Sabrina Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) and sophomore Carla Jewell (Hobart, Ind.) clinched the doubles points with a 6-0 triumph over Sophie Gossett and Emma Philippus at the third flight.
 
At second doubles, juniors Khadija Da-Silva (Burlington, Ont.) and Teodora Radu (Ramnicu Valcea, Romania) were edged 6-4 Adeline Nelson and Willemien Coetzee.

SINGLES RESULTS

At sixth singles, Jewell posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lillian Mouw.

Radu posted a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 4 singles over Shumilova.

Laynes was victorious 6-2, 6-0 vs. Gossett to seal the victory.

Da-Silva was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at third singles against Nelson.

At No. 1 singles, Cazacu was a 6-2, 6-2 victor over Coetzee.

Liong notched a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Malan at the second flight.
