Women's Tennis Falls to Western Michigan, 7-0

The Warriors will host Northwestern Ohio on Feb. 19.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis squad (1-1 overall) fell 7-0 at Western Michigan University (6-0 overall) on Wednesday afternoon.

DOUBLES
Sophomore Sabrina Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) and senior Irena van Meer (Amsterdam, Netherlands) lost 6-0 to Lindsey Zieglar and Kaitlyn Rogosch at No.3 doubles.

In No. 2 doubles action, freshman Melanie Zampardo (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / University Liggett) and freshman Suki Mandair (Dexter, Mich. / Ann Arbor Skyline) lost 6-2 to Kristina Tiraspolsky and Karin Hamilton.

Junior Laura Cazacu (London, England) and senior Linda Liong (Sarawak, Malaysia) fell to Femke Tjon-A-Joe and Ana Guadiana 6-4 at first doubles.

SINGLES
At No.2 singles, Zampardo fell to Guadiana (6-1, 3-1).

Liong lost at first singles (6-2, 6-2) to Tjon-A-Joe.

Van Meer fell in No.6 singles (6-3, 6-2) to Rogosch.

In No.4 singles action, Laynes lost (6-2, 6-2) to Kristina Tiraspolsky

Mandair fell at No.3 singles to Hamilton (6-4, 6-0).

In No.5 singles, junior Carla Jewell (Hobart, Ind. / Hobart) fell to Maya Perkucin (6-2, 6-4)
