#21 Women's Tennis Wins 7-0 Against Northwestern Ohio

The Warriors will host Eastern Michigan on Feb. 21 at 7 PM.

DETROIT – The Wayne State University women's tennis team (2-1 overall) won its match 7-0 Friday afternoon against the University of Northwestern Ohio (1-1 overall).  The match was held at the Doris J. & Donald L. Duchene, Sr. Athletic Facility.
 
DOUBLES
Senior Teodora Radu (Ramnicu Valcea, Romania) and sophomore Sabrina Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) started off with winning No. 3 doubles 6-0.

Senior Brianna Douglas (Dayton, Ohio / Chaminade Julienne) and senior Irena van Meer (Amsterdam, Netherlands) won the No. 2 doubles flight 6-2.

Freshman Melanie Zampardo (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / University Liggett) and freshman Suki Mandair (Dexter, Mich. / Ann Arbor Skyline) won their match 6-2 at first doubles.

SINGLES
Mandair was first off the courts after winning her No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-1.

At No.3 singles, Zampardo notched a 6-2, 6-1 victory.

Junior Carla Jewell (Hobart, Ind.) won her match at No.4 singles 6-1, 6-2.

At No.1 singles, senior Linda Liong (Sarawak, Malaysia) won 6-3, 6-2.

Douglas won her No. 5 singles match 6-0, 6-1.

Senior Stephanie Stamate (Windsor, Ont.) won at sixth singles 6-4, 6-1.
