WSU will begin GLIAC play on Wednesday.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Wayne State University softball team (7-1 overall) concluded its season-opening eight-game road trip on Monday afternoon with a doubleheader split at Cedarville University (11-7 overall).  The Warriors won the opener 4-1, while the Yellow Jackets took the nightcap 4-0.  The game two setback ended WSU's seven-game winning streak.

The Warriors took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first.  Sophomore centerfielder Brooke Nadonly (Clinton Twp., Mich. / L'Anse Creuse) had a leadoff single and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by senior second baseman Rainey Psenicka (Guelph, Ont.).  Nadolny advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single up the middle by senior designated player Amy Claydon (Cambridge, Ont.).

WSU extended its lead in the second with a pair of runs.  Senior first baseman Emma Adams (Rockwood, Ont.) had a leadoff single and senior third baseman Rose Myers (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester) followed with a walk.  Senior left fielder Emily Dodge (Burlington, Ont.) singled to right plating Adams.  Nadonly singled through the left side scoring Myers to make it 3-0.

Wayne State answered in the top of the seventh.  Senior catcher Brooke Turkalj (St. Jacobs, Ont.) had an infield single and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore Breanna Paolatto (Belle River, Ont.).  After a pop out, Adams singled to left center scoring Turkalj.
