Women's Tennis Downs Hillsdale 6-1

The Warriors got five wins in singles matches.

HILLSDALE -- In its second action of the fall, the Wayne State University women's tennis team took down Hillsdale 6-1 earlier this evening. 

DOUBLES

At No. 1 doubles, Laura Cazacu (London, England / Cheam) and Linda Liong (Sarawak, Malaysia / SMK Seri Hartamas) dominated Hillsdale, picking up a 6-1 victory. 

No. 2 doubles pair Anais Ruyssen (Nantes, France / Enfants-Nantais  (Keiser)) and Marta Komar (Inowroclaw, Poland / Sopocka Tennis Academy) also picked up a 6-1 decision. 

Brianna Douglas (Dayton, Ohio./ Chaminade Julienne) and Suki Mandair (Dexter, Mich. / Ann Arbor Skyline) closed out the doubles matches with a 6-3 victory, giving Wayne State the point in doubles. 

SINGLES

After losing the opening singles match due to a retirement, the Warriors went on to win the rest of the matches. 

At No. 2 singles, Cazacu cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 decision. 

Mandair was dominant at No. 6 singles, collecting a 6-2, 6-0 victory. 

Douglas continued the Warriors' winning ways at No. 5 singles, taking the match 6-1, 7-5. 

Komar picked up a win at No. 4 singles, closing out a tight match 6-4, 6-4. 

Ruyssen picked up a No. 1 singles win, defeating her opponent 6-0, 7-6. 

UP NEXT

The Warriors will continue their fall schedule with a tournament at Eastern Michigan, which is set for Oct. 1-3.
