Men's Basketball Stumbles at Parkside

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Wayne State University men's basketball program (2-10, 1-8 GLIAC) lost 89-69 at Parkside (8-8, 5-4 GLIAC) on Thursday night.  WSU has lost six straight.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Parkside led early in the first half but baskets by Antonio Marshall (Detroit, Mich. / Martin Luther King) and David Hughes (Southfield, Mich. / Edison Public School Academy) kept WSU close.  A jumper from Ray Williams, Jr. (Detroit, Mich. / Edison Public School Academy) kept the deficit at two, 10-8, at the 15:46 mark.  Three straight three-pointers extended UWP's advantage to 12, 20-8 with 13:05 to play before halftime.  A three-point play by Kylin Grant (Detroit, Mich. / Renaissance) made it 26-15 at the 10:45 mark.  The Rangers continued to control the first half and led 37-18 with 6:05 remaining.  Tyree Martin (Chicago, Ill. / Curie) capped a 6-0 run with a bucket to pull WSU within 13, 39-26, at the 2:34 mark.  At halftime, the Green & Gold trailed 44-28.

Hughes connected on a mid-range jumper at the 15:41 mark of the second half to make it 53-38 in favor of the Rangers.  Two free throws by Martin trimmed the home advantage to 59-44 with 12:53 left in regulation.  Wayne State used a 6-0 run to pull within 12, 66-44.  Brailen Neely (Detroit, Mich. / Western International), Hughes and Grant all found the bottom of the net during the rally.  However, that would be as close as the Warriors would come as the Rangers would win 89-69.

LEADING THE WARRIORS
Neely led four Warriors in double figures with 14 points.  Grant had 13 points, while Marshall finished with 12 points and Hughes posted a season-best 10 points.  Hughes also grabbed 11 rebounds for his first career double-double.

LEADING THE RANGERS
Tray Croft scored a game-high 25 points, while Colin O'Rourke had 19 points and Vinson Sigmon, Jr. tallied 17 points.
