Three players had at least two singles wins.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team completed its fall season by competing at the Bronco Super Challenge, which was hosted by Western Michigan this past weekend.  WSU was the only Division II team at the event.  The Warriors will now look ahead to the spring season, which will kick off with a match against Lawrence Tech on Feb. 2.

SINGLES
The Green and Gold got strong efforts from a few players of the weekend.  Suki Mandair (Dexter, Mich. / Ann Arbor Skyline) was perfect in singles play, notching two wins over the three-day tournament.  In the opening round, she had no trouble with a challenger from Eastern Michigan, winning 6-3, 6-0.  She followed that up with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in her next match.

Malak Arafat (Alexandria, Egypt) had a good three-day stretch for Wayne State, earning a 3-1 record in the tournament.  She opened play with a 6-4, 7-6 (3) victory.  She was then able to take down a challenger from Eastern Michigan 6-2, 6-4.  To conclude the weekend, Arafat was able to post a 6-1, 6-2 win against an opponent from Oakland.

Shanice Weekes (London, England) was also strong for Wayne State, as she registered a pair of wins over the weekend.  She opened play with a 6-2, 2-6, 9-11 setback against a player from Notre Dame.  From there, Weekes would win her next two matches.  In the second round, she recorded a 6-3, 6-2 victory.  She closed play with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph against an opponent from Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Dea Gorgidze (Tbilisi, Georgia), Martyna Szpakowska (Gdansk, Poland) and Marta Komar (Inowroclaw, Poland) each went 1-2 in the tournament.  Komar won 6-7 (3), 6-4, 10-6 in the opening round before falling in her next two matches.  Gorgidze also won her first match, earning a 6-2, 6-3 victory.  She would then go on to drop her next two matches.  Szpakowska won her first match 6-3, 7-6 (2), but she went winless to close out the tournament.

Anais Ruyssen (Nantes, France) fell in all three of her singles matches, which were against challengers from Western Michigan and Oakland.  Sabrina Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) went 0-2 in her pair of matches against Division I foes.

DOUBLES
The Warriors had four doubles teams competing in the tournament, with Gorgidze and Szpakowska proving to be the top pair for the Green and Gold.  The duo collected a 2-1 record for the tournament.  To open play, Gorgidze and Szpakowska dominated an opponent from Oakland, registering a 6-0 victory.  They would fall in the next round before closing out the tournament with a 6-2 victory over challengers from Eastern Michigan.

Laynes and Arafat went 1-2 over the weekend, winning their second match 6-1.  The team of Ruyssen and Komar also went 1-2 in the tournament earning a 6-2 victory in the last round of play against a team from Western Michigan.  Mandair and Weekes were unable to win in doubles, dropping three matches.
