The Warriors won every match in doubles and singles.

MIDLAND, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team (6-5 overall, 1-0 GLIAC) began GLIAC play by defeating Saginaw Valley State (5-6 overall, 0-2 GLIAC) 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Midland Tennis Center.

Playing at No. 3 singles, Laura Cazacu (London, England) posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory.  That win clinched the match for the Green and Gold.

Keeping the winning streak going, Carla Jewell (Hobart, Ind.) defeated her opponent at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-0.

Not to be outdone, at No. 4 singles, Brianna Douglas (Dayton, Ohio / Chaminade, Julienne) recorded a 6-1, 7-5 win.

Playing at No. 2 doubles, Cazacu and Liong teamed up for a 6-2 victory.

The No. 3 doubles team of Douglas and Sabrina Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) earned a 6-2 win.

FROM COACH SNYDER
"Todays match was a solid start to the season.  In Florida, we never really had the opportunity to find a rhythm, so today was a great opening match for conference play," coach Sheila Snyder said.

UP NEXT
The Green and Gold will stay on the road for a match against Purdue Northwest on March 25.  That contest is set to start at 12 PM at Park Forest Tennis and Health Club.
