Baseball Set to Host NCAA Midwest Regional

WSU will return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University baseball team (35-17) was chosen for the Division II NCAA Tournament on Sunday night and will host a four-team regional by virtue of being the second seed.  It will be the first-ever NCAA postseason action at Harwell Field.  WSU play Walsh on Thursday afternoon, while third-seeded Illinois-Springfield will meet Ashland in game one.

WSU will be playing in the NCAA postseason for the ninth time in program history and seventh time under head coach Ryan Kelley.

Midwest Regional Bracket

The other regional field will be hosted by Davenport with Quincy and Northwood squaring off to take on the Panthers.

WSU was ranked second in the initial set of rankings, third in the second set, before moving up to second last week.  The winners of the two regionals will meet at the highest remaining seed's field in the super regional for a best-of-three series with a trip to the Division II College World Series on the line.
