Track's McDonald Voted to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

Warrior sprinter/hurdler recognized for outstanding academic and athletic achievements.

DETROIT -- Wayne State University senior sprinter/hurdler Aliyah McDonald (Kingston, Jamaica) was voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team for cross country and track & field as announced by the organization yesterday afternoon.

McDonald maintains a 3.92 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in Kinesiology Honors.

She scored in four events at the 2022 GLIAC Outdoor Championships finishing fourth in the 100m hurdles (in an NCAA Provisional time), fifth in both the 100m dash and 200m dash, while running the first leg on the third place 4x100m relay.

In her collegiate career, McDonald scored in 10 events at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships in the three years (since no Championship was held in 2020). She scored in the 100m hurdles and 100m dash all three seasons, once in the 200m dash, and three times as a member of the 4x100m relay.

McDonald twice earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors for the 60m hurdles (Indoor) as one of the top five times in the region that season.

In addition, she has scored eight times at the GLIAC Indoor Championships in four years. McDonald scored all four seasons in the 60m hurdles, and twice each in the 60m dash and 200m dash.

A two-time (2020 and 2021) USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree, she earned Warrior Elite status (term GPA 3.5+) all eight semesters at WSU.

With her First Team All-District selection, McDonald advances to the national ballot.
