Pair of Warrior Pitchers Continue to Collect Postseason Awards

Ryan Korolden becomes the first baseball All-American since Hunter Brown in 2019.

DETROIT -- Ryan Korolden (Yale, Mich.) and Karter Fitzpatrick (Monroe, Mich. / Carleton Airport) collected more postseason honors earlier this week.  Korolden was named to the D2CCA Honorable Mention All-America Team.  He is the first baseball student-athlete to earn All-American status since Hunter Brown in 2019.  In addition, Korolden was voted to the ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-Midwest Region, while Fitzpatrick was selected to the Second Team All-Region.  Korolden will be on the ballot to be an ABCA All-American, which will be announced on Friday.

This duo helped lead the Warriors a program record 37 wins and a trip to the regional finals.

A First Team All-GLIAC selection, Korolden was the fourth Warrior to be named GLIAC Pitcher of the Year, joining Hunter Brown (2019), Justin Mazur (2010) and Anthony Bass (2008).  Last month, the right-hander was a First Team D2CCA All-Region squad.  He was a two-time GLIAC Pitcher of the Week and compiled an 8-1 record with a 2.14 ERA.   Korolden pitched in 13 games, making 11 starts.  He struck out a team-high 70 batters over 75 and 2/3 innings and opponents hit just .194 against him.  Korolden posted a 0.98 WHIP and collected three complete games, including a shutout plus was part of another combined shutout.

Fitzpatrick was a four-time GLIAC Player of the Week and was 9-1 this season with a 2.65 ERA on his way to being voted to the All-GLIAC First Team and D2CAA Second Team All-Region.  He struck out 56 batters in 71 and 1/3 innings.  Fitzpatrick made 12 starts and collected one complete game, while being a part of two combined shutouts.  The opposition hit.255 against the right-hander.  He finished the regular season by striking out 10 batters over eight scoreless innings at Parkside, allowing just one hit.
