GLIAC -- Beca Vestman (Madrid, Spain / Colegio Base) was named GLIAC Golfer of the Week for the second time in her career on Wednesday. Vestman won Davenport's Panther Invitational on Sunday for the first individual title of her career and fourth in program history.
"Rebeca played great in really tough conditions this week," said head coach
Larry Hamilton. "Her one-under 71 in the first round in the cold and rain was really special. Her great play and individual win made our team win that much more special."
Vestman shot a five-over 149 (71-78) and defeated DU's Lauren Gervais on the second playoff hole to claim the victory. The 5-6 right-hander led the Warriors to their first team title since 2018 and fifth in school history with a two-round total of 615 (+39, 307-308).
The 5-6 right-hander joined teammates
Sabel Imesch (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South),
Maisarah Hezri (Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia) and
Inja Fric (Ljubljana, Slovenia) as WSU's previous medalist honorees.
