Anais Ruyssen Receives GLIAC Player of the Week in Women's Tennis

The junior earns the honors for the second time in her career.

DETROIT -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its weekly tennis awards, and Wayne State University junior Anais Ruyssen (Nantes, France) was the recipient of the women's player of the week honors.

It was another spotless effort last weekend for the junior, as she improved to a 9-0 record this spring, while helping WSU to the same ledger. Ruyssen defeated all three singles rivals and all three doubles opponents (with Marta Komar), with all triumphs picked up at the No. 1 spot for both.

The Green and Gold student-athlete began action in Springfield, Mo. last weekend by handling Southwest Baptist's Paula Ballesteros 6-3, 6-1 on Friday (February 24). She then defeated Vera Alenicheva of Northwest Missouri State by matching 6-3, 6-3 scores on Saturday (February 25). Ruyssen wrapped up action over the weekend by knocking off Nastasia Jedrychowski of Drury (6-1, 6-1) on Sunday (February 26).

With Komar, the duo claimed a trio of 6-3 victories, aiding the Warriors in picking up all three doubles points.

Ruyssen and company will play twice this weekend, first meeting Division I Bowling Green on Friday, March 3, before playing a home match vs. Hillsdale on Saturday, March 4 at 2 p.m. from the Duchene Athletic Facility.
