DETROIT -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (5-7 overall, 3-2 GLIAC) led No. 16 Grand Valley State (12-1 overall, 4-1) two sets to none and was out in front for the third, 19-18, on Thursday night inside the Matthaei Center. However, the Lakers proceeded to outscore the Warriors 7-3 the rest of that period before winning the fourth and fifth stanzas as well.

Tim Koth. "Although we are very disappointed with the outcome, our team continues to improve, and I am proud of our effort."

HOW IT HAPPENED (-21, -19, 22-25, 22-25, 13-15)
- Wayne State has dropped three in a row against Grand Valley State for the first time since 2016.
- The Warriors hit .267 with 69 kills and 25 errors on 165 total attacks.
- The Lakers responded with a .205 clip, 59 kills, 26 mishaps and 161 swings.
- GVSU dropped two sets for just the third time in 13 matches, two of which ended in victories.
- Wayne State's best individual set came in the second at .345 (12-2-29), followed closely by .344 in the fourth (16-5-32).
- Grand Valley State hit a match-high .270 in the third (14-4-37).
- Two-time First Team All-GLIAC performer
Kayla Giroux turned in arguably the best performance of her career.
- Giroux sent home a personal best 23 kills with just five errors on 43 total attempts (first-ever outing with at least 40) for a .419 hitting percentage.
- The junior was one of four Warriors with 10 or more kills along with
Molly Miller (17),
Leigha Baldwin (11) and
Katie Smith (11, season high).
- Baldwin and
Ella Uganski hit .259 and .286 respectively while the Warriors went without a single player hitting in the negative.

Kayla Dulgar racked up a personal best 57 assists to go with 21 digs for her fifth double-double of the fall.
- Also on defense, Uganski tied her career high in total blocks with six.
- Miller's three service aces are only one off her high as a Warrior.
