GLIAC -- Sophomore
Kayla Dulgar (Warsaw, Ohio / River View) was named GLIAC Setter of the Week for the third time in her career and first time this season on Monday afternoon, as announced by the league.
"This is a well-deserved honor for the GLIAC leader in assists per set," said head coach
Tim Koth. "She works incredibly hard and I'm very proud of her."
The most-recent honor comes after Dulgar racked up 88 assists and 11 assists per set in Wayne State's two matches last week. On Thursday night in a five-set loss to No. 16 Grand Valley State, the sophomore racked up a personal best 57 assists to go with 21 digs for her fifth double-double of the fall. Then on Friday evening's sweep of Roosevelt, the 5-7 Warrior accounted for 31 assists and seven digs. Dulgar's other totals for the two outings included four kills, two total blocks and a service ace.
As coach Koth mentioned, in just GLIAC outings, the second-year sensation leads the league in assists per set (10.76) and ranks third in total assists (226). When factoring in all matches played, Dulgar is third in total assists (487) and fourth in assists per set (9.55).
Dulgar and her teammates will wrap up the first half of GLIAC play on Friday at Saturday with matches at Purdue Northwest and Parkside, respectively. First serve against the Pride is scheduled for 7 p.m. while the opening serve vs. the Rangers is set for 3 p.m., both of which are eastern time.
