DETROIT -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (12-11 overall, 9-4 GLIAC) made it five wins in the last seven matches on Friday night by sweeping Lake Superior State (7-17 overall, 2-11 GLIAC) inside the Matthaei. The Warriors hit .351 in the process, their fourth-highest clip of the fall and third-best mark at home, while moving above the .500 mark overall for the first time since starting the campaign 1-0.
"It was a complete match by the Warriors this evening," said head coach
Tim Koth. "An outstanding match by Keilyn (Carpenter) this evening, she really set a tone for us."

HOW IT HAPPENED (-10, -16, -17)
- Wayne State has won five of the last seven matches and five of the previous six in league play.
- If the Warriors win on Saturday against Saginaw Valley State and Ferris State defeats Michigan Tech in Big Rapids, WSU will host a GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal match.
- Wayne State hit .351 with 45 kills and only 11 errors on 92 total attempts.
- Lake Superior State countered with a .084 clip on 27 kills, 19 mishaps and 95 attempts.
- The Warriors most efficient set was the first at .519 (15-1-27).
- The Lakers best offensive period came in the third at .152 (10-5-33).
- Three WSU hitters registered 10 or more kills including
Kayla Giroux (13),
Keilyn Carpenter (10) and
Molly Miller (10).
- Those three tallied hitting percentages of .435, .667 and .333, respectively.

Katie Smith was right outside of that trio with nine kills of her own.
- Smith was just as efficient too hitting .350 in her own right.
- Those 10 kills for Carpenter are the second-most of her career and just two off her personal best.
- Back to Smith, the sophomore has hit .306 in her past three performances with 26 kills, just seven errors and 62 swings.

Maya Wegand sent home three service aces, which ties her career high.
- WSU's other leaders included
Kayla Dulgar (35 assists), Giroux again (seven blocks) and
Kendyl Andrews (14 digs).
