Softball To Begin Spring Break Trip With Twinbill At Findlay

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University softball team (2-3 overall) will begin its spring break trip with an in-region doubleheader at the University of Findlay (10-8 overall) on Thursday afternoon.  Game one at Marathon Diamonds is slated to start at 3 p.m.

Warrior Update
WSU compiled a 2-3 mark at the Lewis Dome Invitational last month.  After falling to tournament host Lewis 8-3 in the first game of the season, the Warriors rebounded for a 5-3 triumph over Minnesota Duluth behind two hits each from Abby Favela, Kennedy Cole and Maddie Hool, along with a strong pitching performance by Sydney Long in her collegiate debut.

On day two, Wayne State lost 3-2 in eight innings to Truman, before rallying for four runs in the bottom of the fifth in a 7-6 victory over Minnesota State - Moorhead.  Rylie Josephson had three hits and two RBI, while Madison Martinez tossed three innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.

William Jewell blanked WSU 2-0 on March 24th in the Warriors final game of the tournament.

Josephson batted .778 (7-for-9) with an .833 on-base percentage for the weekend with Mia Hool hitting .375 (6-for-16) and Shelby Miller contributing five hits in 14 at bats (.357).

Findlay Preview
The Oilers have won three of their last four outings with the only blemish being a 4-3 setback to Grand Valley State in Florida.

Sophomore Annika Bredel is batting a team-leading .510 (26-for-51) with 14 extra-base hits (8 2B, 4 3B, 2 HR) and 12 RBI.  She has also been hit by a pitch eight times.  Sophomore Alexys Antal is hitting .435 (27-for-62) with six doubles.

Ninth-year head coach Danielle Lowe has used seven different pitchers this year with four having more than 24 innings pitched.  Both graduate student Molly Pfiffner and Antal have 3-1 records with ERAs of 2.83 and 2.93, respectively.
