DETROIT -- The Wayne State University football team (0-3 overall) continued its gauntlet of opponents on Saturday night with a 30-6 setback against 16th-ranked Indianapolis (3-0 overall) at Tom Adams Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
The Warriors drove 39 yards after the opening kickoff, but the drive stalled with graduate student Jeremy Taras (Macomb, Mich. / Henry Ford II) pinning the Greyhounds at their own six-yard line.  The big play for WSU was a 27-yard reception by senior JoShawn Lewis (Lorton, Va. / South County) from sophomore quarterback Champion Edwards (Los Angeles, Calif. / American Fork [Utah]).

UIndy put together a 13-play, 94-yard scoring drive with quarterback Gavin Sukup completing a 34-yard touchdown pass to Kaleb Carver.  Indianapolis went 3-for-3 on third downs during its initial drive of the game.

WSU drove 40 yards on its next possession, which included a 25-yard scamper by Edwards, but had to punt.  The total offensive in the opening 15 minutes was 99 yards for the Greyhounds and 84 for the Warriors.

Second Quarter
After the touchback, UIndy went 80 yards in 10 plays with Sukup tossing a 12-yard scoring strike to Luke Chambers.  Graduate student defensive tackle Jordan Lewis (Lake Orion, Mich.) blocked the PAT kick making it 13-0.

Sophomore punter Avery Burch (Detroit, Mich. / River Rouge) pinned Indianapolis at its own three-yard line with a 54-yard punt in his Wayne State debut.  The Greyhounds responded with a six-play, 97-yard scoring drive capped off by a 45-yard touchdown pass from Sukup to Alonzo Derrick.  The PAT kick failed giving the guests a 19-0 advantage.

WSU answered with a five-play, 42-yard drive capped off by a 46-yard field goal by graduate student Griffin Milovanski (Saugatuck, Mich.).  The big play was a 37-yard reception by JoShawn Lewis from Edwards on the first play of the drive.

UIndy regained its 19-point advantage with a 66-yard drive ending on a 26-yard field goal by Colin Seymour.

Third Quarter
Indianapolis took the second half kickoff and drove 69 yards to the WSU six-yard line, but the Warrior defense stopped the visitors on fourth-and-one.

The Greyhounds Anthony Crowell returned a punt 32 yards leading to a 36-yard touchdown drive which concluded on a five-yard touchdown jaunt by Jon Lewis.  The PAT kick was wide right giving the guests a 28-3 lead.

Fourth Quarter
The Wayne State offense put together a 16-play drive covering 68 yards in 8:30, which ended in a 25-yard field goal by Milovanski.  It was Milovanski's 35th career three pointer, which ranks third all-time at WSU.

After an Indianapolis punt, Edwards was intercepted.  The WSU defense thwarted a Greyhound drive inside the Warrior 10-yard line.

The final scoring of the game came on safety as Edwards was tackled in the end zone.
