Volleyball Takes Care of Roosevelt in Straight Sets

Wayne State hit .253 for the match and improved to 7-0 this fall when reaching an efficiency of at least .240.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (12-3 overall, 6-2 GLIAC) earned its seventh sweep of the season on Saturday after handling business against Roosevelt (1-16 overall, 0-8 GLIAC) in straight sets inside The Matthaei Center.

"Good response from the Warriors coming off the extended match last night," said head coach Tim Koth.  "Both Kayla's had very solid matches and led the way today.  Now we can take a break from conference play to prepare for the Midwest Regional Crossover."

HOW IT HAPPENED (-13, -16, -22)
- Wayne State hit .253 for the match with 41 kills and 17 errors on 95 total attacks.
- Roosevelt responded with a .010 clip on 23 kills, 22 mishaps and 101 attempts.
- The Warriors' most efficient set was the first at .355 (14, 3, 31).
- The Lakers' best period was also the opening one at .033 (7, 6, 30).

- Kayla Giroux and Paige Giehtbrock carried the offensive attack with 13 kills and 11 kills, respectively.
- They did so efficiently including a .545 hitting percentage for Giroux and .360 by Giehtbrock.
- That clip for the Rider transfer marks her highest as a Warrior.
- Also on offense, Kayla Dulgar finished with 27 assists and five service aces, which ties her personal best.
- Dulgar was joined in the ace department by Kendyl Andrews (two), Maya Wegand (one) and Marley Onken (one).

- Switching over to defense, Giehtbrock (10 digs) locked up her 14th career double-double, fourth as a Warrior and third in the last four matches.
- Giehtbrock was bested in digs by just Abby Macalaguim's 14.
- Above the net, four Warriors notched multiple total blocks starting with Giroux (one solo, three assisted) and Nicole Dupre (one solo, one assisted).
- Those two were accompanied by Giehtbrock (two assisted) and Leigha Baldwin (two assisted).
