NEWBERRY, S.C. -- The Wayne State University baseball team (0-1 overall) came up short against Newberry (5-0 overall) in the 2025 season opener on Friday afternoon, 13-0. Games two and three of the four-game set will be played on Saturday with the first pitch in game one scheduled for high noon.
Wayne State managed just five hits including one apiece from

Aidan Arbogast (Livonia, Mich. / Livonia Stevenson [Mid-Michigan C.C. / Kellogg C.C. / Eastern Michigan]),
Jacoby Dale (Roseville, Mich. [Spring Arbor/Henry Ford CC]), and
Logan Van Sicklen (Waterford Twp., Mich. / Waterford Kettering).
Newberry scored its 13 runs on 11 hits including one run in the second, one in the third, six in the fourth, two in the fifth, and three in the seventh.
Five Warrior pitchers saw time on the mound including
Evan Langlois (Brownstown, Mich. / Woodhaven) with 3.1 innings,
Gabe Nazelli (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Detroit Country Day) with a frame,
Rocco Cardinale (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North) with five outs,
Will DeMasse (Macomb, Mich. / Dakota) with an inning, and
