GLIAC -- Junior right-hander Ethan Getting (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Portage Northern [Purdue Northwest]) of the Wayne State University baseball team was named GLIAC Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday.

The honor comes after Getting's brilliant relief appearance and pitching victory (first as a Warrior) in Wayne State's 4-3 triumph over No. 20 Florida Southern on Sunday.  Out of the bullpen, Getting threw five scoreless innings on 64 pitches with just one hit allowed, only one walk and three strikeouts.  That effort marked the first time he'd thrown more than two and two-thirds since 2023 and he faced just two batters over the minimum.

Coincidentally, Getting and his teammates will begin GLIAC play this Friday through Sunday with a four-game set at Purdue Northwest.  Game one in Hammond, Ind. on Friday is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. eastern time.
