DETROIT -- The Wayne State University softball squad (18-21 overall, 7-9 GLIAC) will play its final two regular-season GLIAC home doubleheaders this weekend as Roosevelt comes to Motown on Saturday (1 PM and 3 PM), while Parkside will be the Senior Day opponent on Sunday (noon and 2 PM).

SERIES HISTORY
Wayne State won twice (6-4 and 9-3) at RU last month in Rosemont, Ill.  WSU has a 27-25 edge in the all-time series with Parkside dating back to 1992.  The Warriors won seven of the first nine meetings, but the Rangers have notched victories in four of the last five match-ups.  Wayne State is 10-8 all-time at home vs. UWP, and 11-11 in GLAIC regular-season contests.  WSU has won four of the last five meetings in Detroit.

LEADING THE WARRIORS
Senior Rylie Josephson (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Walled Lake Central) returned to the starting lineup on Wednesday after missing 26 straight games with an injury suffered in the first game of the spring break trip last month.

The top-two batters are freshman Katelyn DeWitt (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and Elly Koopman (Hudsonville, Mich.).  DeWitt is hitting .362 with 13 extra-base hits and 23 RBI.  Meanwhile, Koopman is batting .360 with a team-leading 30 RBI.  Sophomore Logan Forman (Brantford, Ont.) has a team-high eight home runs and leads the squad with a .605 slugging percentage.

Junior Grace Fisher (Painesville, Ohio / Riverside [Notre Dame College]) leads the pitching corps with nine wins, a 3.48 ERA, and 61 strikeouts.  Sophomore Sydney Long (Grand Blanc, Mich.) has four wins, two saves and 60 strikeouts.  Junior Hayden Batton (Plainfield, Ind. / Avon) has recorded 40 strikeouts in 53.1 innings.

Nicole Tines is in her fourth season guiding the Warriors and has led WSU to 18 wins this year, second-most in the last six years.

LEADING THE LAKERS
Roosevelt, who is in its first season in NCAA Division 2, is 10-22 overall and 4-10 in the GLIAC.  However, four early season wins were vacated.

Sophomore right fielder Ella Dvoracek leads RU in average (.363) and on-base percentage (.414).  Her older sister Brynn has a team-leading 23 RBI along with a team-high six doubles.  Junior Caitlin Williams has 17 stolen bases [the rest of the team has combined for 16 steals], and also leads the squad in walks (21).

Third-year head coach Michele Alexander has used four pitchers this spring.  Both Riley Czarnecki (8-4, 3.86 ERA, 45 SO) and Kailey Hancock (4-8, 3.97 ERA, 41) have thrown at least 84 innings.

LEADING THE RANGERS
Parkside is 16-16 overall and 7-7 in the GLIAC.

UWP is led by reigning GLIAC Player of the Year Mia Johnson, who ranks second in the nation in home runs (16) and has a slugging percentage of (1.030).  Johnson has 29 extra-base hits (12 2B, 1 3B) and just 11 singles in 127 plate appearances.  Haley Remington is batting .347 and is second on the team with six home runs.
