DETROIT -- The Wayne State University baseball team (22-24 overall, 10-10) is set to host Parkside (28-17 overall, 10-10 GLIAC) for its final games of the 2025 regular season.  The four-game series will commence on Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. and Sunday's Senior Day finale is slated for 1 p.m. as well.

Last Time Out - Baseball Caps Season Series Against PNW with 14-4 Victory
Wayne State racked up 14 runs on 12 hits to blow out Purdue Northwest (15-25 overall, 3-17 GLIAC) 14-4 in seven innings on Tuesday in the two teams' regular-season series finale.

Wayne State scored six runs in the second inning, two in the third, four in the fifth, and two in the sixth to triumph in commanding fashion.

Four Warriors finished with multiple hits including Drew Hill (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North) at 3-for-4, Caleb Sanders (Eastpointe, Mich. / Detroit Edison Public School Academy [Dayton]) at 2-for-3, Aidan Arbogast (Livonia, Mich. / Livonia Stevenson [Mid-Michigan C.C. / Kellogg C.C. / Eastern Michigan]) at 2-for-3, and Mason McGuire (Lyon Twp., Mich. / Brighton [Mott CC]) at 2-for-5.

Hill, Arbogast, McGuire, Jacoby Dale (Roseville, Mich. [Spring Arbor/Henry Ford CC]), and each drove in multiple runs while Reagan Paulina (Highland, Mich. / Detroit Catholic Central [Oakland]) tacked on an RBI as well.  Paulina hit a solo home run in the third (fifth of the season), Dale crushed a two-run shot in the fifth (his third) and Hill went deep twice for the first time in his career.  The sophomore right fielder did so with a solo bomb in the third and two-run blast in the fifth for a team-leading six on the season.

On the mound, Miles Jamieson (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South [Mid Michigan / Davidson]) made the start and lasted three innings.  Jamieson gave up two earned runs on two hits with five walks and three strikeouts.

First out of the bullpen, Will DeMasse (Macomb, Mich. / Dakota) picked up the victory (3-3) after two and two-thirds frames of work.  DeMasse allowed one earned run on three hits with one free pass and four punchouts.

Following one batter retired by Braylon Laroo (Canton, Mich. / Detroit Catholic Central), Ethan Getting (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Portage Northern [Purdue Northwest]) shut the door in the seventh against his former school.  Getting surrendered one earned run on two hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

Scouting Parkside
Parkside (28-17 overall, 10-10 GLIAC) hadn't won 20 games in a single season since 2006 (25-30) and hadn't racked up 28 victories like this year since 2005 (45-18).

Under third-year head coach Zac Charbonneau (62-83 overall, 25-55 GLIAC), the Rangers have increased their win total in each of his three campaigns.  Parkside went 5-33 the year before Charbonneau was hired to, in order, 13-36, 21-30 and now 28-17.

Coming into this series, UWP leads the league in batting average at .320 (tied-for-33rd in Division II), but ranks fifth of seven in ERA at 6.03.  Starting at the plate, six everyday (2 PA/G and 75% of GP) Rangers are above or right around the .300 mark when it comes to batting average.  Those six are Owen Brock (.444), Peter Fusek (.436), Dylan Sayles (.356), Josh Wicker (.351), Carter Storti (.300), and Jackson Lindquist (.294).

Switching gears to the mound, Noah Gerritson has been Parkside's most reliable pitcher with a 4.05 ERA in 46 and two-thirds innings pitched.  Gerritson has gone 5-3 in 10 appearances with 46 strikeouts, 18 walks and a batting average against of .249.  He's tied with Sam Mommer (5-4) for the team lead in victories, but Mommer is first in frames of work (53.2), punchouts (53) and complete games (2).

UWP has gone 15-5 away from home, 11-5 in true road games, won two in a row and three of its last five.
