Women's Track & Field Squad Recognized For Academic Achievement By USTFCCCA

10 track student-athletes honored for work in the classroom.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's track and field program ranked ninth nationally among all NCAA Division 2 All-Academic Teams according to the USTFCCCA in terms of GPA with a school record 3.698.  In addition, 10 members of the squad received All-Academic Athlete honors.

"This is a pretty big achievement for our program, placing in the top-10 nationally in team GPA," remarked head coach Grant Lofdahl.  "The coaching staff is very proud of these ladies.  All of the event groups have been doing an outstanding job in the classroom over the past few years, and to lead the GLIAC and rank ninth in the country reflects their efforts.

"Makenzie, Reagan, and Renae leaving as All-Academic honorees is fitting, and Mattie Drennan has been our "academic MVP" with a 4.0 GPA for all four of her years as a Warrior.  With a graduating class holding a 3.75 GPA as a group, several returning upperclassmen now take over leadership roles in academics, including Avery Wilson, Emmanuela Johnson, Aubrey Migoski, Annabelle Smith, Makayla Stewart, Idalia Shadhaya, and Robin Bresolin.

"We look forward to a new group of incoming student-athletes arriving soon, who will join this exceptional academic team and make their own mark in the classroom and beyond!"
