Men's Cross Country Adds Two Freshmen and One Transfer for 2025

Davis, Kunsapur and Oyer will wear the Green and Gold this fall.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's cross country team, under the direction of eighth-year head coach Grant Lofdahl, has added three more student-athletes for the 2025-26 academic year.  Joining the Warriors this fall will be freshmen Ishaan Kundapur (Northville, Mich.) and Neil Oyer (Traverse City, Mich. / Traverse City Central), along with transfer Glen Davis (Burtchville, Mich. Port Huron Northern [SC4/Spring Arbor]).  This trio joins two previous signees in James Latstetter (Flushing, Mich.) and Ayden McDonald (Novi, Mich. / White Lake Lakeland) to round out the 2025 recruiting class.

2024-25:  CROSS COUNTRY:  Competed in four regular-season meets, plus the Crossroads League Championship meet, and the NAIA Cross Country National Championship meet ... ran a season-best time of 25:10.2 at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. ... finished 23rd at the Crossroads League Championship in a time of 25:58.6 to assist SAU winning its first conference title since 2004 ... crossed the finish line in 25:28.9 at the NAIA National Championships helping the Cougars place 17th.  INDOOR:  Did not compete.  OUTDOOR:  Did not compete.

2023-24:  Ran for St. Clair County C.C. (SC4) and broke the 8K school record with a time of 25:35.8 at the Charger Invitational hosted by Marion University's Ancilla College to win the individual title ... finished third at the 2023 Region XII and MCCAA Championship in a time of 25:46.9 helping the Skippers to a third-place team finish.

High School:  A 2023 graduate of Port Huron Northern High School ... was a two-year cross country letterwinner for coach Paul Nevado ... twice earned All-Macomb Area Conference honors finishing 12th in 2021 (17:07.1) and seventh in 2022 (16:16.1) ... recorded a time of 16:48.4 as a junior at the 2021 MHSAA Division 1 state cross country meet, then improved to 16:21.1 as a senior ... ran a personal-best time of 15:56.8 at the 2022 MHSAA Regional meet at Crox-Lex ... also lettered twice in track for the Huskies ... competed at the 2021 MHSAA Regional track meet in both the 1600m race as well as the 4x800m relay ... ran a 9:55.75 to place sixth in the 3200m race at the 2022 MHSAA Regional meet ... was a member of the 4x800m relay that participated at the 2023 MHSAA Division 1 state track and field championships ... also ran the 3200m race that same day after placing second at the regional meet at Macomb Dakota in a personal-best time of 9:30.87 ... served as a team captain in both sports.

Personal:  Full name -- Glen J. Davis ... born on April 209, 2005, in Port Huron, Mich. ... son of  Jeff and Bethany Davis ... has a younger brother, Grant ... plans to major in Business Administration ... earned an associates degree from SC4 in May of 2025.

Coach Lofdahl on Glen Davis:  "Glen is a runner with a lot of experience and training under his belt already, and should have a smooth transition to the DII level.  He had some outstanding results at both St. Clair Community College and at Spring Arbor, running in the low-to-mid 25 minute range for 8K several times.  He's a highly motivated young man who has been putting in great work over the summer, and certainly has the potential to be a varsity guy and make our team better right away."

High School:  A 2025 graduate of Northville High School ... was a four-year track and cross country letterwinner for coach Tim Dalton. ... competed at the 2023 MHSAA Division 1 state finals helping the Mustangs to the state title ... finished eighth at the 2024 MHSAA Regional at Ann Arbor Huron, then scored at the state meet aiding in NHS winning another state title ... posted a cross country best time of 15:50.90 to place seventh at the 2024 KLAA Championships ... advanced to the 2024 MHSAA Division 1 state track meet after placing eighth in the regional in the 1600m ... finished 14th at the state meet as a junior (4:22.93 for 1600m) ... also ran a season-best time of 2:02.39 for 800m at the 2024 regional meet ... placed second at the 2025 regional track meet in the 3200m event in a season-best time of 9:27.66 to qualify for the state meet ... advanced to the state meet as a senior in the 1600m event after finishing fourth in a personal-best time of 4:18.54 at the regional meet ... ran a personal-best time of 9:27.03 for 3200m to place sixth at the 2025 MITCA Champions of Champions Festival.

Coach Lofdahl on Ishaan Kundapur:  "We've been fortunate to build a great relationship with Coach Tim Dalton and the program at Northville, and Ishaan is the latest in a line of Mustangs who became Warriors.  He was a part of three state championship teams, and a varsity runner for the past two years.  He had an excellent senior track season, and with time to adjust to the 8K and 10K distances and to collegiate competition, has the talent and the toughness to be a difference maker for us."

High School:  A 2025 graduate of Traverse City Central High School ... was a two-year cross country letterwinner for coaches Bryan Burns, Eric Houghton, Bryant Wilson ... garnered All-Big North Conference (BNC) accolades twice as well as All-Region recognition ... placed 15th at the 2024 MHSAA Division 1 regional cross country meet in a personal-best time of 16:29.8 to advance to the state finals ... won the 800m run at the 2025 BNC Championships in a time of 1:59.17 ... posted a personal-best time for 800m (1:58.33) at the 2025 MHSAA Regional track meet ... ran the third leg of the 2024 BNC champion 4x800m relay ... competed at the 2025 MHSAA Division 1 state track meet in the 4x800m relay ... was a member of the Academic Honor Roll.

Coach Lofdahl on Neil Oyer:  "Neil was a late addition to our men's squad for this recruiting class, and we're glad to be adding him to the mix.  He was a key runner for the excellent Traverse City Central program, and came on strong as a senior.  He is not a guy who will have any pressure to produce as a freshman, but with some hard work and determination, he has the mentality to be a solid runner at the collegiate level in the future."
