DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team will compete at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships in Allendale, Mich., on the campus of Grand Valley State University. The tournament is set to begin on Saturday, September 27, and will conclude on Monday, September 29.
LAST TIME OUT
WSU's men's tennis squad competed at the University of Toledo's Everybody vs. Cancer Invitational last weekend (September 19-21). A pair of Warriors earned 4-0 match record in singles, as
Luis Klaus (Brühl, Germany) and
Thomas Mathys (Grimisuat, Switzerland) were both perfect on the weekend.
Benjamin Hill (Düren, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) and
Tom Wasner (Altenholz, Germany) found success as well, each nabbing a 3-1 ledger in singles. The pairing of Wasner and
George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom) was the top-performing duo for Wayne State, claiming a 3-0 mark.
TOURNAMENT OUTLOOK
The tournament will be broken into multiple draws for singles and doubles, with four draws on the singles side, and three draws for doubles. The singles competition will begin at 8:00 AM on Saturday, September 27, while the doubles portion will start at 5:00 PM. Member institutions from the GLIAC, G-MAC, and GLVC will be in attendance.
