Fencing Prepared for Schiller Duals at Northwestern

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's and women's fencing teams will travel to Evanston, Ill., to compete in the Schiller Duals, hosted by Northwestern University in the Ryan Fieldhouse.  The event will span two days, with competition on Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1.

LAST TIME OUT
The Warriors last competed as a team at the OSU Elite Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, with the men collecting a pair of wins, and the women claiming one victory.  Salma Abdrabou (Cairo, Egypt / Dar El Tarbiah IGCSE), Reka Galfalvy (Budapest, Hungary / Vörösmarty Mihály), Anabella Acurero Gonzalez (Valencia, Venezuela / Colegio de San Gabriel Arcangel), and Ludovica Mancini (Rome, Lazio, Italy / Liceo Linguistico Niccolò Machiavelli) all went 13-4 for the women's squad.  On the men's side, Mahmoud Elsayed (Tanta, Gharbia, Egypt) tallied a 19-5 mark in the epee, while Eyad Marouf (Alexandria, Egypt) posted a 9-9 ledger in the sabre.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK
The Green and Gold will be joined by 15 teams on the women's side, and 11 teams for the men.  The WSU men will compete nine times at the duals, while the Wayne State women will compete 10 times.  Below is the weekend schedule.
