DETROIT -- On January 31 and February 7, the Wayne State University baseball program hosted the Born In Detroit Pitching and Hitting Camps for participants ranging in ages from 7-18 at the Duchene Sr. Athletics Facility and Harwell Field.
Two sessions on each date were offered to participants based on age levels and included detailed pitching and hitting instruction, station and drill work, classroom education, and video analysis. Approximately 140 little league through high school players participated on the Wayne State University campus.
"These two camp dates offered the perfect timing to host a pitching and hitting educational experience," said WSU head coach,
Ryan Kelley. With high school and youth baseball seasons on the brink of competition, it was a fantastic opportunity for our program to connect with the motivated camp participants. A special thanks goes to the participants, families and coaches who traveled to WSU from near and far for this camp. Plus, prior to our afternoon hitting session on February 7, it was tremendous to take a moment of silence, reflect, and educate our camp participants regarding the significant life of Mr. Ron Teasley, Sr."

"We are excited for their successful baseball progression this spring and summer," coach Kelley added. "Plus, thank you to Anthony Tomey and the Born In Detroit team for their leadership support. Thank you to our WSU assistant coaches, support staff, and student-athletes for their positive energy to help engage this leadership experience. Additionally, a very sincere thank you to event sponsors including Wayne State University Alumni Richard Hovde, Nick Conti and his wife Vergie, Frank Jeney, along with the Ron and Marie Teasley Foundation."
