Women's Tennis Welcomes Walsh to Start Regular Season

DETROIT -- The No. 22-ranked Wayne State University women's tennis squad will play host to Walsh University on Friday, February 6, at 4:00 PM inside the Doris J. and Donald L. Duchene, Sr. Athletic Facility.

WSU's contests last week against Drury University and Rockhurst University at UIndy were canceled.

LAST TIME OUT
The Warriors nabbed an exhibition win over Huntington University, topping the Foresters 7-0.

MATCH PREVIEW
The Cavaliers split a pair of matches last weekend, defeating Edinboro University 5-2 before falling 6-1 to Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Bryan Whittaker has held the reigns for the Walsh women's tennis program since the 2012-13 season, tallying a 152-145 mark.  Taira Abildayeva returns for her sophomore season after earning Second Team All-Conference accolades during her rookie campaign.  WU garnered a 13-8 record a year ago, falling 4-3 to Northwood University in the G-MAC Quarterfinals.
