Men's Tennis Defeated 4-0 by Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The No. 4-ranked Wayne State University men's tennis team (8-3 overall) fell 4-0 at No. 9-ranked Florida Southern College (11-3 overall) on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
The Mocs posted a pair of wins to post the doubles point.

At the No. 1 doubles position, Mehmet Onur Turgut and George Russell defeated Harry Forsyth (Wamberal, New South Wales, Australia / The McDonald College [Mississippi College]) and Luis Klaus (Brühl, Germany / Archbishop's St. Ursula gymnasium [TH Köln]) 6-4.

George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom / Peter Symonds College) and Thomas Mathys (Grimisuat, Switzerland / ECCG - Martigny) fell to Gabriel Jornert and Bosko Boskovic 6-2 in the No. 2 slot.

The pairing of Benjamin Hill (Düren, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany / Burgau-Gymnasium) and Sam Knowles (North Shields, Tyne and Wear, England / King's Priory School) was trailing Mario Garoz and Edoardo Melindo 5-4 before the match went unfinished.

SINGLES
Day fell at the top singles flight, as No. 19-ranked Garoz prevailed 6-4, 6-4.

Forsyth faced Boskovic in No. 5 singles, falling 6-3, 6-3.

Knowles saw action in the No. 6 singles slot, being bested 6-3, 6-3 by 39th-ranked Mario Antonio Morales.

Klaus, Mathys, and Hill all competed in matches that went unfinished.

UP NEXT
The men's tennis squad will face yet another ranked foe, traveling to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University tomorrow, March 15, for a 10:00 AM match.
