Men's Tennis Falters 4-0 at No. 15-Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- The No. 4-ranked Wayne State University men's tennis team (8-5 overall) fell 4-0 to No. 15-ranked Rollins College (11-1 overall) on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
The Tars opened with a 1-0 advantage, after clinching the doubles point.

In the top doubles flight, Harry Forsyth (Wamberal, New South Wales, Australia / The McDonald College [Mississippi College]) and Luis Klaus (Brühl, Germany / Archbishop's St. Ursula gymnasium [TH Köln]) fell 6-1 to Richard Stoiberer and Pete Tran.

Benjamin Hill (Düren, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany / Burgau-Gymnasium) and Tom Wasner (Altenholz, Germany / Friedrichsort Community School) were bested in the No. 3 doubles position 6-1 by Nico de Giacomo and Lawson Prather.

George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom / Peter Symonds College) and Thomas Mathys (Grimisuat, Switzerland / ECCG - Martigny) were trailing 5-3 in the No. 2 position to Mo Anterist and Fabian Gusic prior to the match going unfinished.

SINGLES
Klaus experienced just his second singles loss this season, as he was defeated by No. 9-ranked Prather 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 2 position.

Sophomore Wasner fell at the No. 5 singles position to Anterist, 6-3, 6-1.

Forsyth was bested by Tran 6-2, 5-7 in the sixth singles spot.

Day fell in his first set to Gusic 6-4, before posting a 6-1 win in the second.  The match went unfinished.

Mathys split his first two sets with Stoiberer 6-1, 2-6, and held a 2-1 advantage before his match went unfinished.

Hill was bested in his first set 6-3, but had a 4-3 lead over de Giacomo in the third prior to RC clinching the match.

The Green and Gold will play its last match of Spring Break tomorrow, March 18, against No. 44-ranked Saint Leo at 10:30 AM.
