WSU Hall of Fame Accepting Nominations For 2026

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University Athletic Department Hall of Fame Committee is accepting nominations for the class of 2026, which will be the 50th class enshrined.  The induction ceremony will be held on the evening of Friday, October 9, 2026.  Nominations will be accepted until April 1, 2026.

Persons wishing to nominate someone must complete this online form and include a list of athletic achievements, letters won at WSU and current address of nominee (or relative if nominee is deceased).  A total of 280 individuals and one team have been inducted in the first 49 classes.

For the second time in school history, a "Veteran" will be inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in October of 2026.  If you wish to nominate someone, who concluded their career prior to the summer of 1995, please click here.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete candidate must have graduated from WSU and becomes eligible five years after their last year of collegiate competition.  One-year transfers are not eligible for HOF.

The candidate's athletic achievements and/or contribution to sports while at WSU or as an alumnus must have been widely recognized over the area served by the University, enhancing the reputation of the University as well as of the candidate. 

The candidate must be of good character and reputation.

The candidate must have attended WSU at least two academic years (earned at least two varsity letters) or must have held a responsible staff position for at least five academic years and must have been in good standing at the termination of such relationship with the University. 

A WSU staff or faculty member is not eligible for consideration until five years after his/her athletics-related position at WSU has ended, except in cases of posthumous induction. 

All candidates shall be considered without discrimination on basis of sex, race, national origin, sexual orientation, or any other classification.
