Women's Golf Concludes NKU's The Julie in Sixth Place

Wayne State shot a 310 in the final 18 holes to make its three-round total 948.

BATAVIA, Ohio -- The Wayne State University women's golf team concluded its first tournament of the spring on Tuesday afternoon, placing sixth among a 12-team field at Northern Kentucky's The Julie. As one of just two Division II programs in the field (the rest being Division I), the Warriors carded a three-round total of 948 (+92, 332-306-310).

Individually, WSU was paced by Clara Laffitte (Montevideo, Uruguay / Colegio Seminario) who tied-for-seventh among 66 total players with a 54-hole mark of 231 (+17, 79-74-78). That effort marked Laffitte's second top-25 placing of the season, just as many as she had through 11 total events as a true freshman in 2023-24 before redshirting last season.

"I felt like this was a great start to the spring season for us." said Head Coach Larry Hamilton. "The weather was not ideal by any means with cold temperatures and strong wind, but the girls really stayed focused and posted some great scores. This was our first competition in over five months, so I am very proud of them and how they played."
