DETROIT -- The No. 18-ranked Wayne State University men's tennis team (11-7, 3-0 GLIAC) posted a 6-1 win over Purdue University Northwest (9-8, 3-2 GLIAC) on Friday in the Duchene Athletic Facility, avenging last season's 4-3 heartbreaking loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
The Warriors started producing early, sweeping all three matches in doubles.

At the top flight, the pairing of Luis Klaus (Brühl, Germany / Archbishop's St. Ursula gymnasium [TH Köln]) and Harry Forsyth (Wamberal, New South Wales, Australia / The McDonald College [Mississippi College]) battled for a 7-5 win over PNW's Samuel Dickson and Dani Chicano Melero, marking the duo's fourth-consecutive win.

George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom / Peter Symonds College) and Thomas Mathys (Grimisuat, Switzerland / ECCG - Martigny) found success as well, defeating their Pride counterparts (Joao Martins and Pedro Diaz Camacho) 6-2 in the N0. 2 position, improving their record together to 11-3 during the spring campaign.

In the No. 3 doubles flight, Benjamin Hill (Düren, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany / Burgau-Gymnasium) and Tom Wasner (Altenholz, Germany / Friedrichsort Community School) handled Raphael Valente and Daniel Sroka by way of a 6-1 triumph.

FROM HEAD COACH BRYAN MORROW
"I was pleased with our team's performance today and thought that we played a clean match in singles and doubles.  It was nice to see some of our guys who lost in matches to this team last year pull out impressive wins today. "
