Softball Swept By Parkside

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Wayne State University softball team (14-21 overall, 6-10 GLIAC) lost both ends of a conference doubleheader at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (16-22 overall, 7-9 GLIAC) on Sunday afternoon.  The host Rangers won the opener 15-3 in five innings, before claiming the nightcap 6-2.  The two setbacks to Parkside combined with Davenport's split with Grand Valley dropped the Warriors to seventh in the GLIAC at 6-10.  Both Parkside and Davenport are a game ahead of WSU at 7-9, while Purdue Northwest is 7-7.  Wayne State will play 10 of its final 12 league games at home over the next three weekends.

The Rangers hit two solo home runs in the fourth by Taylor Utrata and Johnson.

In the top of the sixth, junior Molly Hool (Allen Park, Mich.) had a one-out single and moved to second on a two-out walk to sophomore Julia Sandles (Macomb, Mich. / Dakota [UMSL]).  Near had an RBI single, with Sandles later scoring on a wild pitch.
