Women's Tennis to Play Host to Purdue Northwest and Roosevelt

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team is set to host Purdue University Northwest on Friday, April 10, and Roosevelt University on Saturday, April 11.  Both matches are scheduled to start at 10:00 AM.

LAST TIME OUT
WSU went 2-0 last weekend, earning a 5-2 win over UIndy and a 7-0 sweep over Michigan Tech.  Seniro Martyna Szpakowska (Gdansk, Poland) was named the GLIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the week for her efforts during the two contests.

SCOUTING THE PRIDE
PNW is 6-11 overall this season, with a 1-3 ledger in conference play.  The team earned its first GLIAC win of the year a week ago, besting Roosevelt 4-3.

Elisoa Andriantefihasina occupies the No. 1 singles position for Purdue Northwest, compiling a 10-6 ledger at the flight, including wins in nine of her last 11 matches.  On the doubles side, Haizea Lopez and Monti Gay Coello have found the most success, with a 4-6 mark at the No. 2 slot.

Selenay Heper is at the Helm for PNW, helping the squad to a 17-43 record.

SCOUTING THE LAKERS
The Lakers enter their contest at Ferris State with a 7-10 record, falling in the last five matches.

Milena Novikova has won four of her last five singles matches for RU, seeing action in the No. 3, 4, and 5 positions.

Head coach of the RU women's tennis squad is Dominic DeNardo, guiding the team to a 23-35 record.

ITA RANKINGS UPDATE
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its newest poll, with the Wayne State women's squad appearing as the No. 45-ranked squad in the nation.  A pair of WSU student-athletes are ranked in singles play, as Szpakowska is 48th, and Malak Arafat (Alexandria, Egypt) is 58th.
