Wayne State Baseball Qualifies for Midwest Regional as Three Seed

The Warriors will first face sixth-seeded Missouri-St. Louis on Thursday.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University baseball team (37-14 overall) has qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in program history, ninth instance under 18th-year head coach Ryan Kelley and third time in the last five seasons.  The Warriors drew the three seed and will first face sixth-seeded Missouri-St. Louis (33-20), winner of the GLVC Tournament, on Thursday at 3 p.m. eastern time.

At Midwest Regional No. 2, Wayne State and Missouri-St. Louis will be joined by the host, second-seeded Illinois Springfield (34-18 overall), and seventh-seeded UIndy (33-21 overall).  The entire four-day schedule can be found below and the times listed are in central time.

Thursday, May 14 
Game 1 – Illinois Springfield vs. UIndy – 11 a.m. 
Game 2 - Wayne State vs. Missouri-St. Louis – 2 p.m. 
 
Friday, May 15
Game 3 – Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2 – 11 a.m. 
Game 4 – Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2 – 2 p.m. 
 
Saturday, May 16
Game 5 – Winner Game 3 vs. Loser Game 4 – 11 a.m. 
Game 6 – Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5 – 2 p.m.
 
Sunday, May 17
Game 7 - If Necessary – 12 p.m.

Midwest Regional No. 1 will be hosted by the GLIAC Regular-Season and Tournament Champion, Grand Valley State (45-8 overall).  The top-seeded Lakers will be joined by fourth-seeded Missouri S&T (34-18 overall), fifth-seeded Davenport (29-26 overall) and eighth-seeded Kentucky Wesleyan (30-22 overall), winner of the G-MAC Tournament.

The winners of the two double-elimination regionals will meet at the highest remaining seed's field in the super regional for a best-of-three series with a trip to the Division II College World Series on the line.
