Football Has 31 GLIAC All-Academic Honorees

Over the last eight years, 339 WSU football student-athletes have earned GLIAC All-Academic honors.

DETROIT -- Thirty-one (31) members of the 2025 Wayne State University football squad were recognized with GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) All-Academic accolades.  Over the last eight years, 339 WSU football student-athletes have earned GLIAC All-Academic honors.

Criteria states that student-athlete must be an active member on their respective sport roster at the end of the season, and not a true freshman or a first-year transfer student.

The 10 student-athletes receiving All-Academic Excellence Team accolades for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 were redshirt sophomore Jaydon Bush (Southfield, Mich. / Southfield A&T), redshirt sophomore Justin Cox (Akron, Ohio / East Community Learning Center), redshirt junior Will Fennema (Middleville, Mich. / Grand Rapids South Christian [Madonna]), redshirt junior Ethan Gates (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / Lakeview), redshirt sophomore Torrence Greene (Ypsilanti, Mich. / Ann Arbor Huron), redshirt senior Devon Isaac (West Bloomfield, Mich. / [Lawrence Tech]), redshirt freshman Donovan Isaac (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Waterford Mott), redshirt freshman Kristian Kilpatrick (Fenton, Mich.), senior Quincy Salter (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson), and redshirt freshman Gavin Troy (Port Huron, Mich.).

Both Gates (Health & Physical Education Teaching - 3.92) and Salter (Exercise & Sport Science - 3.99) were recognized for the third time in their careers, while Bush (Criminal Justice - 3.62), Cox (Finance - 3.52), and Greene (Global Supply Chain Management - 3.75) were all included for the second straight season.  Half (five) of the Warriors on the All-Academic Excellence Team were first-time recipients, including Fennema (Exercise & Sport Science - 3.92), Devon Isaac (Management - 3.68), Donovan Isaac (Sport Management - 3.84), Kilpatrick (Global Supply Chain Management - 3.58), and Troy (Exercise & Sport Science - 3.52).

A grand total of 21 student-athletes garnered All-Academic Team accolades for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0-3.49.  They were redshirt sophomore Jaiden Acker (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Kenowa Hills), redshirt sophomore Jordan Bell (Benton Harbor, Mich. / St. Joseph), redshirt freshman Amarion Brownlee (Mount Clemens, Mich. / L'Anse Creuse), redshirt freshman Phil Cato (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. / U. of Detroit Jesuit), redshirt junior Joe Clark, Jr. (Pontiac, Mich. / West Bloomfield), redshirt freshman Max Edwards (Los Angeles, Calif. / American Fork [Utah]), redshirt junior Will Edwards (Cincinnati, Ohio / Winton Woods), redshirt sophomore CJ Gordon (Benton Harbor, Mich. / Berrien Springs), senior Colby Horn (Menomonee Falls, Wis. / Sussex Hamilton), redshirt sophomore Jordan Hutchinson (Eastpointe, Mich. / Chandler Park Academy), redshirt freshman Kaleb Jefferson (Detroit, Mich. / Harper Woods), redshirt freshman Aydin Johnson (Parchment, Mich.), redshirt freshman Mickey Keller (Ashburn, Va. / Independence), redshirt junior Nahji Mabry (Flushing, Mich.), redshirt freshman Anthony Markovski (Macomb, Mich. / Anchor Bay), senior Brayden McKenna (Lapeer, Mich.), redshirt sophomore Griffin Nowak (Livonia, Mich. / Franklin), senior Nick Ostas (Blissfield, Mich.), redshirt freshman Jasir Rahaman (Detroit, Mich. / U. of Detroit Jesuit), redshirt senior Jonathan Tillman (Mount Clemens, Mich. / Brother Rice [El Camino CC]), and redshirt freshman Richardo Wourman (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson).

Earning the honor for the third time in their careers were Clark, Jr. (Sport Management - 3.26), Horn (Health & Physical Education Teaching - 3.42), and Ostas (Management - 3.46).  Five Warriors were listed for the second-straight season, including Acker (Exercise & Sport Science - 3.19), Gordon (Exercise & Sport Science - 3.27), Hutchinson (Social Work - 3.27), McKenna (Criminal Justice - 3.10), and Nowak (Sport Management - 3.48).

The remaining student-athletes on the All-Academic Team (13) all received the recognition for the first time in their collegiate careers.  Those 13 were Bell (Sport Management - 3.12), Brownlee (Communication Arts - 3.06), Cato (Sport Management - 3.49), Max Edwards (Exercise & Sport Science - 3.41), Will Edwards (Management - 3.02), Jefferson (Media Arts & Studies - 3.41), Johnson (Sport Management - 3.10), Keller (Political Science - 3.43), Mabry (Exercise & Sport Science - 3.31), Markovski (Global Supply Chain Management - 3.31), Rahaman (Technology, Information Systems and Analytics - 3.07), Tillman (Sport Management - 3.02), and Wourman (Journalism - 3.04).

The football team had seven student-athletes achieve a perfect 4.0 term GPA for the Winter 2026 semester, while thirty-four (34) members of the program were on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for a term GPA of 3.5 or better.
