Four Members of Women's Golf Squad Named GLIAC All-Academic

Three of those four student-athletes qualified for the Excellence Team.

DETROIT -- Four members of the 2025-26 Wayne State University women's golf team earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic accolades. The squad has had 59 honorees since the 2015-16 school year.

Criteria states that student-athlete must be an active member on their respective sport roster at the end of the season, and not a true freshman or a first-year transfer student.

Grade-point averages listed are calculated through the winter semester.

The trio of student-athletes that were included on the All-Academic Excellence Team for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 were sophomore Ting-Yu Kuo (Taipei, Taiwan / Taipei Municipal Zhong-zheng Senior), redshirt sophomore Clara Laffitte (Montevideo, Uruguay / Colegio Seminario) and sophomore Claudia Portillo (Madrid, Spain / IES Ortega y Gassett).

Laffitte (Pre-Medical Lab Science - 4.00) was on the Excellence Team for a second-straight season, while Kuo (Marketing - 3.94) and Portillo (Management - 3.98) were both eligible for the first time.

Orianna Bylsma (Montague, Mich.) was on the All-Academic Team for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0-3.49. The senior (Neuroscience - 3.00) was included on the squad for the very first time in her collegiate career.

The women's golf team recorded a cumulative 3.645 GPA for the Winter 2026 semester, with two Warriors achieving a perfect 4.0 term GPA. Four student-athletes were included on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for a term GPA of 3.5 or better.
