WSU Football - 2026 Special Teams

DETROIT -- As we continue previewing each position for the 2026 Wayne State University football team, this segment features new special teams coordinator Marc Hull.

There will be plenty of competition for each spot on special teams as only long snapper Zaiden Hall (Goodrich, Mich.) and place-kicker Griffin Nowak (Livonia, Mich. / Franklin) are returnees who saw action a season ago.

Hall, who lettered as a true freshman in 2025, served as the long snapper for both punts and PAT/FG in all 11 games a season ago. He recovered a muffed punt at Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Nowak played in all 11 games in 2025 to earn first collegiate letter. He averaged 55.5 yards on 27 kickoffs last year with seven touchbacks. Nowak was 3-of-4 on field goal attempts inside 40 yards and led the squad in scoring with 26 points.

Redshirt sophomore Anthony Markovski (Macomb, Mich. / Anchor Bay) returns and looks to make his collegiate debut this fall as does punter George Sanchez-Murillo (Lincoln Park, Mich. / Detroit Cass Tech), who redshirted in 2025.

The Warrior coaching staff added two kickers to the roster in freshman Nic Wells (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Father Gabriel Richard) and junior college transfer Ryan Rodas (Novato, Calif. / San Marin [City College of San Francisco]). Wells was selected to the 2025 Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Division 5 All-State Team as a specialist. Rodas played in 11 games for the City College of San Francisco of the 3C2A (California Community College Athletic Association). He connected on 9-of-12 field goal attempts with a long of 43 yards in a win over Sierra. Rodas made all 37 PAT attempts to score 64 points.

The holder and return positions will be determined during fall camp.
